What happened to "do no harm?" Shame on you, ETMC.
This photo, made possible by ETMC-Tyler and Trung Nam Nguyen, D.O., ETMC physician, is the last time I ever saw my mother.  It is on this site not as a sign of disrespect; it is here so that ETMC has to see the results of its actions every day when it logs on to monitor this site.

She would have fought the Devil himself for me, and I intend to do the same for her.

Physicians and medical-industry lobbyists fought long and hard to get Proposition 12 passed in Texas.  As my  mother would say, "Be careful what you ask for."  This case, which would have been quietly tried in a court of law, is now being tried openly in the court of public opinion.  This is actually far better because healthcare consumers deserve to know what their community doctors and hospitals are doing!

East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System is also known as East Texas Medical Center Hospital, is part of the Tyler Texas hospitals system providing healthcare in Tyler, Texas. It provides cardiology, pediatrics, childcare, wellness, vision, neuroscience and neurosurgery, prostate, colon, heart, ankle, leg, and arm bones care, while easing pain. Orthopaedics is used mostly by elderly patients. These services are usually paid for via managed care, insurance, PPO or HMO. For a patient requiring medical home care, ETMC Tyler has a full staff of nurse and physicians. It even has doctors of osteopathy providing care for surgery, heart, urology, women, back issues, cancer, spinal care, neuro care, eye problems, back pain from bad posture, and rehabilitation services. ETMC Regional Health Care System (along with Trung Nam Nguyen, DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) provides primary care and secondary care, full of medical negligence, medical malpractice, and doctor negligence. Medical records from ETMC services are provided freely to anyone. An emergency room visit to the ER gets no life saving treatment from ER staff, especially in heart care and cardio care. The hospital staff ignores abnormal heart results and doesn’t care about saving a single life or saving lives. The treating doctor, hospital staff, or another treating physician will send a trauma patient for an autopsy, resulting in an autopsy report. Seems abnormal. ETMC facility does not care about results, abnormal or not. Tyler, Texas deserves better from hospital staff, treating physicians, and other doctors. Health care is negligent for family and family care. Emergency Medical Service EMS provides rural services for seniors, but death from cancer, a tumor or tumors, lung problems, spine problems, or joint problems is a risk. Trung Nguyen does osteopathy for family health care, even cardio. Care can be provided at home or in a family center. East Texas children deserve life, but won’t get it via ETMC health. Or doctor Trung Nguyen. ETMC health care is a joke. The hospital is a joke. Why even provide medical employment?  An East Texas Medical Center physician is not cognizant of health.

March 20, 2007 is Texas Watch's Medical Malpractice
Lobby Day in Austin, Texas.  Let's hope the legislators
listen to the citizens who elected them to office and
STOP BOWING TO THE DEEP POCKETS!

We desperately need changes in the Texas system
or, sooner or later, we are all doomed.

My response to Solucient, LLC, for naming ETMC
a 100 Top Hospital.  Just unbelievable...

---With special thanks to Mimi Swartz for being brave enough to write the story on how Proposition 12 is really affecting Texas citizens!

See "What is Happening Now" for updates.

On August 8, 2004, my mother sought emergency treatment at an East Texas Medical Center (ETMC)---AKA East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System---emergency room located on South Broadway in Tyler, Texas.

Within 14 hours of treatment at ETMC, my mother was dead. Ignoring the results of tests HE ordered, Trung Nam Nguyen, D.O., the treating physician, diagnosed my mother with food poisoning and failed to follow up on abnormal cardiac enzymes and abnormal EKG test results.

Even worse, neither Trung Nam Nguyen nor the hospital  nursing staff ever mentioned the abnormal results to my mother or family, thereby denying my mother the right to potentially life-saving treatment at another facility other than ETMC.

Thanks to Proposition 12*, my family has, in effect, been denied access to the Texas court system.  Therefore, I continue to seek justice for my mother by spreading the word about ETMC-Tyler and Trung Nam Nguyen, D.O.

Based on the autopsy report and the ETMC medical records from my mother's ETMC emergency room visit, I believe with all my heart that my mother is now dead solely because ETMC and its ER staff did not follow up with indicated care.

For a complete summary of exactly what happened to my mother at the hands of ETMC-Tyler's emergency room, read the Case Summary.
